What to expect

What to Expect at Your First Visit

At your first chiropractic visit, Dr. Jung will take a detailed history of your primary health concern as well as review any other medical conditions you may have. After taking your history, he’ll perform a thorough examination of your nervous system, muscles, bones and joints to determine the cause of your problem. An initial treatment will be provided if it’s deemed appropriate. Should you require additional tests, such as x-rays, advanced imaging or labs, we will ensure that you are referred to one of our nearby imaging or laboratory partners. If we suspect you have a serious condition that we cannot appropriately treat, we’ll give you the proper referral to a well-qualified specialist.

Ongoing Care

On your 2nd chiropractic visit, Dr. Jung will review the findings from your first visit and recommend a treatment plan specific to you. This treatment plan will detail what types of therapy you can expect to receive during your ongoing visits. Our commitment to getting you back to your active lifestyle is vital, however, what is essential for your personal lasting health is your willingness to take action and remain dedicated to your individual wellness. Participating in the treatment protocol and following through with exercises, dietary recommendations and supplemental resources is how healing becomes health. While the number and types of treatments we outline are what we feel is best for you, the care you receive is ultimately in your hands. As your condition improves, we may modify your treatment plan, make new recommendations, or release you from our care. It’s all up to how you feel.

The Gonstead Chiropractor conducts a thorough analysis of your spine using a variety of tools to detect the presence spinal dysfunction known as the vertebral subluxation complex.

History taking

Your chiropractor conducts thorough medical history taking in order to make proper diagnosis.

Visualization

Your chiropractor is an expert in looking for subtle changes in your posture and movement which could indicate any problems.

Instrumentation

The instrument of choice in the Gonstead System is the Nervoscope. The Nervoscope detects uneven distributions of heat along the spine which can be indicative of inflammation and nerve pressure.

Static Palpation

This is simply the process of feeling your spine in a stationary position. Your chiropractor will feel for the presence of swelling, tenderness and any abnormal texture or tightness in the muscles and other tissues of your back.

Motion Palpation

This process involves feeling the spine while moving and bending it at various angles. This enables the chiropractor to determine how easily or difficult each segment in your spine moves in different directions.

X-Ray Analysis (when clinically indicated)

X-ray films enable your doctor to visualize the entire structure of your spine. This is helpful in evaluating posture, joint and disc integrity, vertebral misalignments and ruling out any pathologies, or recent fractures that may be present or contributing to the patient’s condition.

Physical examinations

The Gonstead Chiropractor uses specific physical examinations including orthopedic testing, neurological testing and basic medical testing in order to process proper diagnosis which leads to specific treatments for patients.

The Gonstead chiropractor then combines the findings of all the above factors to determine if there is indeed subluxation within the spine that needs to be adjusted, if so the location and precise requirements of the adjustment to be made and cooperates with another medical professions if necessary.
